Lena Wafler Day Dies At Age 96
Services for Lena Wafler Day, 96, Junction City, who died Sunday, January 29, 1995, at the Geary Community Hospital, wil be Wednesday morning, February 1, 1995, at the First Presbyterian Church in Junction City, with the Rev. Julia K. Wharff officiating.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Chapel in Junction City.
Born June 23, 1898, at Mammoth Springs, Ark., she was a daughter of Alfred and Amelia Liebeck Wafler. She grew up at Dwight and moved to Junction City, where she spent most of the rest of her life.
She was married to Clarence D. Day June 29, 1927, at Clay Center. She and her husband owned and operated the Economy Cleaners in Junction City more than 50 years.
Mrs. Day was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Junction City, Circle One of the church, Ruth Rebecca Lodge No. 82, Junction City, was Past Noble Grand of the Ruth Rebecca Lodge, and Order of the Eastern Star, Melita Chapter No. 116, Junction City.
Survivors include a son, Robert Day, Emporia; a daughter, Phyllis Flinn, Conyers, Ga.; two brothers, Fred Wafler, Junction City, and William Wafler, Denver; two sisters, Marie Miller, Junction City, and Freida Hawthorne, Council Grove; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her husband, February 1, 1982; three brothers, Alfred, Roy and John Wafler; three sisters, Bertha Wafler, Josephine Arney and Minnie Olson; and a daughter-in-law, Norma Day
