Claus was the 10th of 12 children of Claus Ficken & Gesche Wrieden Ficken.. Raised in Benton County, Missouri. Dairy Farmer south of Sedalia, MO on US 65 for many years. First married to Anna Brauer in 1908. One son was born to this union: Norman C. (1909-1990). Anna died and is buried in a Lutheran cemetery east of Cole Camp, MO. In 1923, he remarried to Ada E. (Burnett) Boeschen (1895-1982). She is buried next to Claus at Memorial Park, Sedalia.
