"Shirley A. Metz, 78 of Northampton, formerly of Nazareth, Pa. passed away Monday, October 26, 2009 in Abbe Hall, Bethlehem, Pa. She was under hospice care. Born August 8, 1931 in Nazareth, Pa.; she was the daughter of the late Fred and Lilian (Hearn) Bowers. She was of the Lutheran Faith.
Survivors: Daughters, Patricia Metz Werkheiser and her husband Donald, Brenda Metz Knowles; son Guy Metz; sister Betty Bracken; three grand daughters, Shannon and Carissa Werkheiser and Julie Knowles; and many nieces, nephews and their families. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers, Kenneth, Stanley, and Earl Bowers; and five sisters, Mildred Metz, Carolyn Shimer, Ethel Baltz, Marion Simms, and Hilda Bowers.
Services: 11 a.m., Saturday, October 31, 2009 in the George G.Bensing Funeral Home, Inc., 2165 Community Drive, Route 946 Village of Moorestown-Bath, PA 18014; with the Reverend Herbert Dolich officiating. Viewing will be held 10-11 a.m. Saturday morning in the funeral home.
Interment will be private in Bushkill M.E. Cemetery, Bushkill Township, Pa.
Contributions: In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Abbe Hall, 108 West 4th Street, Bethlehem, PA 18015 or to Northampton Village, 1001 Washington Ave., Northampton, PA 18067."
