"Berdie M. Smith Abel, 87, of Walnut Manor, Allentown, formerly of Morristown, N.J., died Friday, June 28, in Mosser Nursing Home, Trexlertown.
A 1947 graduate of the Chicago School of Nursing, she was a licensed practical nurse, employed by the Phoebe Home, Allentown, and Allentown Osteopathic Hospital until retiring in 1972. Before that she worked at Morristown Memorial Hospital.
Born in Schoeneck, Upper Nazareth Township, she was a daughter of the late Freeman and Eva (Davidson) Smith.
She was of the Lutheran faith.
Survivors: Daughter, Minnie, wife of Lester White of Emmaus; brothers, Russel of Lower Nazareth Township and Lester of Upper Nazareth Township; sisters, Hilda Boyer of Allentown, Sadie Scott of Tatamy and Marion Werner of Lehighton; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Prayer services: 11 a.m. Monday, Holy Cross Cemetery, Bushkill Center. Call 9:30-10:30 a.m. Monday, Schmidt Mortuary, 407 Belvidere St., Nazareth."
