South Armstrong street, Kokomo,
died at 11 p.m. Wednesday at St.
Joseph's hospital. Funeral services
will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday
at Fenn Funeral home, Kokomo,
with Rev. Chester Mitchell
officiating. Burial will be in Nevada
cemetery.
The body will lie in state at the
funeral home, where friends may
call after 6 p.m. today.
The last surviving member of a
family, of nine children, he was
born June 29, 1879 to Purnal and
Catherine (Griffith) Cottingham.
He and Ardella Jane Mitchell were
married in 1901 and she died June
22, 1958. A resident of Oakford for
11 years; he had made his home
with a daughter, Mrs. Mark MeElfresh
of Kokomo, for the past three
years. The deceased was a member of
the Windfall Christian church and had
served as sexton of Albright cemetery
for five years. He was also
custodian for Taylor township consolidated
school for five years and before that time
had been engaged in farming.
Surviving are the daughter, with
whom he had made his home, a
son Glen Cottingham, of Indianapolis,
five grandchildren, four great
grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
