George was educated in the Wake County Public schools system and graduated from Broughton. He was in the US Marine Corps, worked for First Citizen Bank of Raleigh and Wake Tech College in Wake County, NC
George was a past president of the Wake County Wildlife Club. He was presented the Governor Award for Sportsman
of the Year in 1979.
George was a former member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where he served as Deacon, Sunday School teacher, and a Brotherhood Director. He was elected Layman of the Year. He started the RA and Youth Program at Pleasant Grove. He was a present member of Piney Grove Chapel Baptist Church in Angier, NC where he was the Director
of the Men's Ministry and a member of the choir.
George is survived by his wife Kitty Chestnutt Batts;
sons Jeffrey Tidwell, George Caleb Batts,(Joy).
Sister, Ann Brosnahan,(Ed), brothers,Jerry Batts,
(Tina died 2016)and James Batts; nephews,Sean Brosnahan,
(Sayer) and Chad Batts, niece, Kinsey Batts McNeely,
Tyler)great niece Anora Brosnahan. Granddaughter
Kinsey S. Batts born in 2013, Grandsons, Patrick Tidwell,
George Luke Batts 2012; Spencer Batts 2015 and Seth Batts 2017
