Hammond was a native of Pike county, Miss., and had lived in Ponchatoula a number of years before moving here about seven years ago. He was a retired businessman and a member of the Baptist church.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today from the Welsh parlors with the Rev. E. D. Bateman officiating. The body will be carried overland to McComb, Miss., for interment in the Hollywood cemetery where the Rev. H. C. Comish will officiate at the graveside services.
Surviving are his widow, the former Trueda Carpenter; three daughters, Mrs. H. M. Alford of Amite, Mrs. Percy Durio of Opelousas and Mrs. Durham; four sons, J. B. of New York city, George of Amite, W. E., of San Francisco and C. B., of Hollywood; 17 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
