Dora Jeweleen Beck, age 75, of Dahlonega passed away peacefully on Monday, April 2, 2012.

Jeweleen was born in Gilmer County and moved to Dahlonega after the birth of her second child with her first husband, Joe Wayne Littleton. She was a beloved member of the Cane Creek/Camp Wahsega Road community. She was a dedicated mother to her five children, but also lovingly mothered other youth in need. She worked very hard as a homemaker and full time farmer; gardening and caring for laying hens, and later livestock.

In 1993 she married Joseph Hayward Beck and became a beloved member of the Beck family. They are probably best known for their meticulous garden, purple martin gourds, and the rows of beautiful flowers at their home on Black Mountain Road. They survived the complete destruction of their home in the Palm Sunday tornado of 1993, and consistently praised their community for their love and support during their time of need. Both retired, they were enjoying passing on the traditions of farming and flowers to their beloved grandchildren, ages 2-16 years old.

She is preceeded in death by her parents, Lemma and Elisha Ledford; brother, Warren Ledford; sister, Christine Ledford; by husband, Joe Wayne Littleton; daughter, Carolyn Allison; and son, Wayne Littleton.

Funeral Services were held April 5, 2012 at the Banister Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega. Rev. Lyman Caldwell officiated. Interment followed in the Bethlehem-Jones Chapel Cemetery. Banister Funeral Home of Dahlonega was in charge of the arrangements.
