Harvey Eloyd Harrington was born August 29th, 1919 at Willamina, Oregon (small logging town) to parents, Harvey & Ola (Scott) Harrington. He died Sunday, April 8th, 2012 at Ashley Manor Licensed Residential Care Facility in Hermiston, Oregon at the age of 92.

He was raised in Willamina and graduated from college in 1940. He joined the Army in July of 1941. In 1942 he went to Officers school and while on leave he married Zelda Kincaid on November 7th, 1942 in Vancouver, Washington. Scheduled for North Africa, but Harvey ended up in Puerto Rico until the end of the war and was discharged in 1945. In 1950 Harvey & Zelda moved to Granite, Oregon to gold mine with Zelda's brothers. In the spring of 1950 they bought property in Baker, Oregon on Pine Creek Road where they raised their 4 children. Having many farm animals both Harvey and Zelda were very active as 4-H leaders. Harvey was a teacher in the Baker School District for many years and went from teacher to principle to administrator before retirement. In the summers he worked for the Bureau of Land Management fighting wild fires, still keeping up on his ranch work. Harvey was quite the carpenter with his family working together they built 3 family homes, 2 shops, and 1 large barn. They moved to Hermiston in 2003. Harvey and Zelda loved to go fishing, either at the lakes catching trout, along the Snake River going after crappie, or deep sea fishing for bottom fish or salmon. They loved it all.

Harvey loved to watch any kind of sports on TV; Sundays were sports all day long from one channel to another.

He is survived by children, Harvey George Harrington of Baker City, OR, Gary Thomas Harrington of Myrtle Creek, OR, Paul Leslie Harrington of Portland, OR, and Susan Harrington of Lakeview, OR; 6 Grandchildren; 8 Great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his Wife, Zelda Harrington on June 1st, 2011.

A memorial service with military honors will be held on Friday, April 20th, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at Burns Mortuary Chapel in Hermiston. Disposition was by cremation.
