Great Bend - Sol M. Brack, 78, died Monday at the Central Kansas Medical Center. (Note, March 12, 1979)
He was born June 12, 1900 at Otis and attended Fort Hays State College and Salt City School of Business. While residing in Otis he was employed at Otis Drug, Otis State Bank and with his father in an automobile agency. He lived in Larned from 1925 to 1932 where he managed the family owned car agency, coming to Great Bend in 1932 to manage the auto agency here. He was active in real estate here, developing the Parkview heights addition and later the Cresent Park Addition as well as other replats. He was active in the insurance and real estate profession with an office in the American State Bank Building for over 30 years. He was associated with Keller Real Estate from 1973 until his death.
He was an organizer of the Great Bend Kiwanis Club; serving as charter president the first year and a full term the second year. He was also a past president of the Larned Kiwanis, a past lieutenant governor of Kiwanis and had 46 years perfect attendance.
He was also a member of the Elks, Eagles and Masonic bodies, Great Bend Lodge No. 15, Salina Scottish Rite and K.C.C.H. and Isis Shrine Temple, past president of the Great Bend Board of Realtors, former member of the Cemetery board, had served on the planning commission for 15 years and was a former city councilman. He was also a charter member and helped organize the St. Mark Lutheran Church in Great Bend in 1952.
Surviving are the widow, Neva M. "Toots" Brack; three sons, C. M. of Lawrence; Karl and Ned, both of Great Bend; two sisters, Mrs. Edward Stenzel, Hoisington, and Mrs. Henry Lanterman, Great Bend; and five grandchildren.
Funeral arrangments will be announced by the Fryberger Mortuary. Friends may call at the mortuary after 6 p.m. tonight. A memorial has been established to the church."
