A Confederate Officer in the American Civil War, 1861 to 1865.

Served as the Major and Lieutenant Colonel of the 2nd South Carolina Volunteer Infantry Regiment from 1861 to 1863. He was wounded in Action (in the left ankle) at Savage Station, Virginia, on June 29th, 1862, and was retired due to disability resulting from his wounds on June 3rd, 1863.

Elected as Captain of the "Bonham Guards" of Richland District, South Carolina, which served as Company K of the 3rd South Carolina State Troop Regiment in 1864. He was appointed as the Colonel of the 3rd South Carolina State Troop Regiment, Junior Reserves, in 1864. At the wars end he furloughed his command for two weeks in April of 1865 at Spartanburg, South Carolina, but before they could reassemble the war had come to an end.
