WaKeeney -- Barney Riedel, 86, died Sunday, July 2, at Trego County-Lemke Memorial Hospital. He was born April 14, 1903 at Victoria, to Adam and Mary (VonFeldt) Riedel.

He married Mary E. Bongartz Aug. 28, 1928 at Ellis.

He was a retired farmer-stockman, and had been a Trego County resident since 1928. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, WaKeeney, and the WaKeeney Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; two sons, Donald, WaKeeney, and Gerald, Oshkosh, Neb.; four daughters, Edna Mae Deines, and Mary Jo Clevenger, both of WaKeeney, Wilma Silkman, Hopewell Junction, N.Y., and Donna Sanders, Rayville, Mo.; three brothers, Joe, Colby, Eugene, Hays, and Ralph, Arvada, Colo.; two sisters, Albina Werth and Mary Remington, both of Arvada, Colo.; 31 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and one great-great- grandchild.

Funeral services were at 10 a.m. today at the church. Father Paul Becquet officiated; burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Ellis.
