Minor G Rogers Dies in County
Funeral Rites to be Conducted Tomorrow Afternoon at Three
Minor George Rogers, 78. died at the home near LaFayette yesterday afternoon at 3:30 from a lingering illness. He was born Aug. 26, 1863, near LaFayette, and was the son of the Elizabeth Ragsdale Rogers and George Armstead Rogers. He resided his entire life in that section.
Mr. Rogers spent a life of usefulness to his family and community. His father died when he was small, and Mr. Rogers kept his brothers and sisters together and helped rear them. After his wife died, he had the responsibility of rearing six children. Mrs. Rogers died Sept. 29, 1922.
The six surviving children are George M Rogers, Hopkinsville; Mrs. Lloyd Cassels, Miami, Fla.; Miss Henrietta Rogers, LaFayette; Robert E Rogers who is in the medical corps at Fort Knox, and Miss Mary Rogers of Louisville.
He also leaves a sisters, Mrs. W.A. Lile, Church Hill; one brother, Squire L.D. Rogers, LaFayette community; he leaves one granddaughter, Peggy Lou Cassels, Miami; three nephews, two nieces, and a number of great nephews and nieces. He was a cousin of Col. R.H. Cooper, W.H. Hancock, Miss Lottie Ragsdale and Allen Ragsdale, Hopkinsville.
The funeral services will be conducted at the Powell Cemetery at LaFayette Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock, the Rev. Iven Allen, Methodist minister, officiating.
