Bernard was a resident of Bethany, Louisiana for 50 years at the time of his death. He was a retired merchant there. He was also a Mason, a member of Woodmen of the World, and a member of the Bethany Methodist Church.
He had 3 sons; Bernard Martel Alexander, Isaac M Alexander and Jack Alexander. He also had one sister, Mollie Alexander (Alfred) and one brother, J. C. Alexander.
