Marriage 26 Jun 1899 He married Martha Josephine Florence Ritchie, daughter of James Lafayette Ritchie and Rosanna Melissa Duff, on 26 Jun 1899 in Washington County, Virginia. 1900 to 1933 James and Josephine spent their married life living near Glade Spring, Virginia. There they farmed, and raised their only child James Mack Ryburn. The 1920 census specifically stated that the family was living on the Gladespring and Damascus Road. It appears that in the first few years of their marriage they also provided a home for Josephine's nephew, Claude Ritchie. [son of Josephine's brother James W. Ritchie]
Death: 10 Nov 1945 at age 72. He was buried at Knollkreg Memorial Cemetery in Abingdon, Virginia.
