Eugene E. Butler, 88, of Monroe, died at 10:24 p.m. Tuesday at Mercy Memorial Hospital.
There will be no visitation. There will be a funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle. Rev. Lawrence Detruf, pastor of First Church of God, will officiate and military honors will be conducted by V.F.W. Post 3925, Erie. Rupp Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Eugene was born December 11, 1923 in Temperance, he was the son of Eston and Dora (Teiterman) Butler. He married June Mae Beach December 31, 1942; she preceded him in death on March 18, 1998.
He worked at Willy's Motors as a security guard until his retirement.
Eugene served in the U.S. Army from February 9, 1943 to February 12, 1946.
He was a member of V.F.W. Post 3925, Erie.
He is survived by three sons, Eugene D. (Marilyn) Butler of Temperance, Richard (Margaret) Butler of Erie, Michael (Elaine) Butler of Monroe; two daughters, Linda Harper of Miami, Florida, Harriett (Richard) Augustine of Monroe; a sister, Bernice Reid of Summerfield Twp.; eight grandchildren, five step grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 19 step great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Madeline Holtz and Alice Grodi.
