John Douglas Henery 1949 - 2012 John Douglas Henery died Monday, April 9th, 2012 at St. Luke's Hospital in Boise, Idaho.

John was born in Pocatello, Idaho on September 1st, 1949. He was the youngest of three boys; he graduated from Pocatello High School in 1967.

He enlisted in the Navy in 1968, and served on the USS Drum submarine.

He married Ruth McCracken on November 27, 1971 and together they had two children, Shannon and Chris, who were raised in Pocatello.

He retired from Idaho Power after 37 years as a lineman and an electrical shop tech. He was an avid and excellent golfer, hitting a double eagle in one tournament.

He was a member of Masonic Lodge #1, Meridian, a member of Scottish Rite, and a member of the El Korah Shrine club. As a Shrine clown for many years, he helped to raise money for the Shriner Hospitals for Children. Later in life he acted in many melodramas as a member of the Shrine Players.

His hobbies also included fishing, hunting, and camping.

Preceded in death by his brother, Ralph Henery, mother, Mildred Henery, and father, George Henery.

John is survived by his wife, children, granddaughter Aspen, and by his brother, Ray Henery, of American Falls.

John always put others ahead of himself, and will be remembered as a kind, happy, and caring man.

Viewing, with services following, will be held at the Amity United Methodist Church on 4464 S Maple Grove Rd, Boise, Idaho at 8 pm on Thursday, April 12th.

In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that you make a donation in John's name to Shriners Children Hospital.
