This John R Plummer, who was married to Sarah 'Jane' Neeland is linked to the WRONG Benjamin Plummer. His granddaughter Florence Elizabeth Plummer Smith hand-wrote before her death a list of all of her great aunts and uncles, with distinct descriptions of each one, notes of how her father Albert Lee Plummer visited them, etc. This piece of paper has been photocopied and transcribed on ancestry.com

John R Plummer is the child of Benjamin S Plummer who died abt 1840. He married 1st Margaret Alexander who died in 1825. John was their only child. He married again and had 5 other children - Benjamin Tyler Plummer, Sarah Plummer (Gardner), Anne Elizabeth Plummer (Stoddard, Pepperd), Maria J Plummer, and Richard Henry Plummer. Florence gave brief descriptions of Richard, Ann, and Sarah. Their relationships to each other are confirmed by various newspaper articles, census records, etc.
These 5 children were left orphaned at Benjamin's death, and their are guardian papers for 2 of them.
This information can be confirmed on Ancestry.com, Elizabeth Florence Smith tree. A long article is written about Anne Elizabeth Plummer Stoddard Pepperd which refers to this information in detail, and newspaper articles etc are attached to the various church members.
At least 3 of these siblings (John R Plummer, Benjamin Tyler Plummer and Richard Henry Plummer) went to California during the Gold Rush, and the latter 2 remained in California. John R Plummer went twice to California, but he returned home, living most of his adult life in Kansas, ending up in Grayson Co, TX around the age of 60.
