Obituary. Wm. H. Swank was born on February 14, 1843, in the state of Missouri and died at his home near Crawfordsville on February 3, 1918. He crossed the plains with his parents in the year 1847, living for about five years on the Columbia River, from which place his parents removed and settled near Brownsville where the subject of this sketch spent the remainder of his life.

He was married to Augusta M. Snyder on October 14, 1872 to this union was born 4 children, Mrs. Stella Arthurs of Corvallis, Mrs. Gladys Howell of Portland, Carl of Brownsville, Oregon, and Zelma who passed within the silent gates when she was three years old.

He leaves a wife, two sisters, four grandchildren and a large circle of relatives and friends to finish the journey of life. Funeral services were held from the Baptist church Tuesday, at one o'clock p.m., conducted by W. P. Elmore.
