Sadie Frances Washington Williams was the oldest of eight children born to the union of John L. Washington and Sadie A. Finley Washington on February 9, 1932 in Winchester, Virginia. She attended Douglas High School where she was an honor student and served as president of the Courtesy Club.

After a brief courtship Sadie married Linwood Williams and their union was blessed with four beautiful children: Helen, Frances, Stephen and Linda. Sadie worked as a domestic worker but later joined her husband serving as the book keeper for Southern Scrap.

Family was very important to Sadie. She was a loving mother to her children always putting them before herself. When her mother became ill, Sadie would do all she could for her mother and younger siblings. She was a devoted grandmother and enjoyed corresponding with her siblings, her children and her grandchildren through cards and letters. She was often referred to as Aunt Sadie by cousins. Nieces and nephews who often visited from Pennsylvania and New York stayed with Aunt Sadie. Sadie had special relationships with all her sisters in law but enjoyed a special friendship with Helen Blowe Williams and can truly use the BFF (best friends forever) because they enjoyed a friendship since they were five years old. Sadie was a very humble, caring, and loving person and was often called on day or night by friends or family to provide a listening ear and a strong shoulder to lean on. She often offered guidance or solutions to their problems.

Sadie was baptized at Mount Carmel Baptist Church in her youth. As a member of Mt. Carmel, she worked on many fund raising events. After moving to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania in 1979, she joined the Martin Luther King Baptist Church and served as their treasurer. As a member of Pheasant Hill Estates and Golden Living –West Shore, Sadie served as vice president of their resident group and an activist for resident's rights. During her stay at both, Sadie touched the lives of many residents and staff.

After several years of medical issues, Sadie departed this life peacefully on Saturday, April 7, 2012. She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters; Helen (Frank) Brown of Locust Grove, Va.; Frances Bailey of LaVista, Ne., Linda (Ron) Washington of Severn, Md., and one son, Stephen P. (Linda) Williams of Winchester,Va.; two sisters, Charlena Childs of Laurel, Md., and Elizabeth (James) Washington of Winchester, Va.; two brothers, Franklin (Christine) Washington and Charles (Sharon) Washington of Winchester, Va.; ten grandchildren, Christopher (Theresa) Gaskins of Ranson, W.Va.; Lesley Pendleton of LaVista, Ne.,Linda (Christopher) Bennett of Germany, Dawn (Ozell) Mitchum of Boyds, Md., Carlisa (Dana) Woods of Lawrenceville, Ga., Yolanda (Fernando) Martinez of Valrico, Fl., Courtney Williams of New York, Melana (John) Nelson of Gibsonton, Fla., Stephanie Williams of Fredericksburg, Va.,and Steven Goodwin of LaVista, Ne., six great grandchildren: Jordan, Aspen, Darren, Jaden, Domanic and Bailey, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
