LOVINGTON - Ronald Dirks, 73, of Lovington, formerly of Sullivan, passed away at 6:35 p.m. Monday (April 9, 2012) in Mason Point, Sullivan. Celebration of Life services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the Reed Funeral Home, Sullivan with Pastor Rodney Houser officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in the Greenhill Cemetery, Sullivan. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association . Condolences may be sent to the family at reedfuneralhome.net Mr. Dirks was born August 7, 1938 in Lincoln, Illinois, the son of Henry and Helen Amberg Dirks. Ron was retired from the General Telephone Co. where he managed the Sullivan office and also was the manager of the billing center in Wisconsin. He was a member of the Sullivan Ambucs and a Die Hard Cubs Fan. Ron married Dorothy Baker on April 26, 1958 in Lincoln and she survives. Also surviving are his children, Diana Renfro of Lovington, Debbie (Cary) Suhl of Sullivan, Greg (Janet) Dirks of Sullivan and Kevin (Michelle) Dirks of Hampton, GA; grandchildren, Curtis Suhl, Chelsey Dirks, Jennifer Erixon, Christina Sanders, Samantha Dirks, Drew Dirks, Jason Renfro and Seth Dirks; seven great grandchildren; brother, Henry L. Dirks of Kewanee; sisters, Phyllis (Lloyd) Leesman of Lincoln and Joyce Anderson of Springfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one sister and a son-in-law.
