Rites Here Friday

Services for Barrette Ellis Brown, 85, former Christian County sheriff, will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Henninger Funeral Home. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.

Mr. Brown died at 3 a.m. today at his home in University Heights Apartments after a long illness.

A Christian County native, he was born Sept. 26. 1892, the son of John and Minerva Elizabeth Hamby Brown. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and had served as the last
Republican sheriff in Christian County from 1929 until 1933.

He retired in 1963 from the Army Corps of Engineers in Nashville, Tenn., having lived most of his life in this city. He was a World War I veteran serving in France and later in WWII.

Survivors include his wife, Lois Adams Brown, two daughters, Sarah Mitchell, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Emmy Lou Floyd, New Orleans, La.; one sister, Eldora Tweddell, Ashland; five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
