Sister M. Melania, a native of Charlesburg, passed away at St. Agnes convent, Fond du Lac. She was 88 years old. She had been in poor health since Dec. 24.
The former Eva Boehnlein was born in Charlesburg, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Boehnlein. She entered the Order of St. Agnes in 1896 and celebrated her 50th anniversary five years ago.
A primary instructor, Sister Melania taught for 15 years at St. Mary's school, Fond du Lac, and also at St. Luke's Two Rivers, and St. Florian's in Milwaukee. She retired in 1936.
Survivors are two brothers, Simon of New Holstein and Nick of Charlesburg, and many nieces and nephews. Three brothers and a sister preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held at the convent chapel with Rev. R. P. Bierberg, C.P.P.S., officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Springs cemetery.
