Janet Elliott Cain passed away peacefully on Wednesday, the 28th of March 2012, after a lengthy illness. A native Houstonian, she was born on the 25th of February 1939, and remained a resident of Houston for her lifetime.
She was preceded in death by her parents, the late Frances and Roy Wallace Elliott.
She is survived by her son, Randall Elliott Cain, and wife Amy, of Eugene, Oregon; her sister, Acia Elliott Cagle and husband, Pat; nephews, Thomas P. Cagle, Jr. and wife, Nicole; Kevin E. Cagle and wife, Christine; niece, Acia Cagle Moody and husband, Edward, and dear friends: Peggy McCall Prescott, Nancy Gabriel, Lola Sciba, Phyllis Guynes, Elaine Hinkle, and Susie McLeod.
Janet attended Lanier Junior High and was a proud alumni of San Jacinto High School before attending The University of Houston. During her lifetime, Janet was active in many organizations including Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), United Daughters of the Confederacy (UDC), and the French Alliance (Alliance Française de Houston). She was also a Docent at the Houston Heritage Society.
Janet was a member of St. Martin's Episcopal Church and taught Sunday school classes for many years. She was an artist, historian and gourmet cook. Janet's love of travel took her to many places of interest around the world, where she made friends wherever she went.
Janet treasured her family and friends. She was a very unique and exceptional individual and a special friend to all who knew her.
A memorial service is to be conducted at three o'clock in the afternoon on Saturday, the 14th of April, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston, where the Rev. Stuart Bates, Rector of St. Francis Episcopal Church, is to officiate.
