Scott City - Funeral mass for Mrs. Alma Scherer of Scott City will be held Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church here. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Mrs. Scherer, 68 years old, died Thursday at her home here.
She was born Sept. 9, 1918, at Carthage, the daughter of James and Ella Huffines Cummins. She married Alfred Fritz Scherer Nov. 25, 1937. He died Aug. 1, 1978.
She was a beautician and owned the Town Plaza Beauty Salon from 1960 to 1975. She helped implement the school luch program at St. Joseph Church. She was a member of St. Joseph Church, National Hairdressers and Cosmetologist Association and the Scott City Senior Citizens Card Club.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Barbara Varnon and Mrs. Diana Godwin; a brother, Burnam Cummins; two sisters, Mrs. Alberta Jette and Mrs. Nondese Core; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.
