Son of Henry and Johanna (Coenen) Rutten. Married Helena Vanderloop on January 12, 1892 at St. Francis Catholic Church, Center Township, Butler County, Nebr.

Died at the Boone County hospital in Albion.

Came to America at the age of 18 with his father, mother, three brothers Pete, Bill, Theodore, and sister Mary (later Mrs. Henry Vanderloop). Another sister Louise (Mrs. Louise Campbell) was born in America.

Married Helena Vanderloop on January 12, 1892 at David City, Nebr. They farmed near David City, later moving to Sheridan County where they homestead near Hay Springs for 10 years. In 1903 they moved to a farm near Cedar Rapids. In 1936 they retired from farming and moved into town.

Preceded in death by his wife (Feb. 20, 1938), two brothers John (died in Holland) and Pete, one sister Mrs. Henry Vanderloop.

9) Mrs. Larence (Marie) Haschke - Cedar Rapids
10) Mrs. Roy (Frances) Fitzsimmons - Cedar Rapids
11) Mrs. Myrtle Stewart - Cedar Rapids
12) Mrs. Sylvester (Elizabeth) Kleve - Albion

Also survived by 36 grandchildren and 64 great-grandchildren.
