Mr. Blattel, 91 years old, died Monday in the Cape Girardeau Nursing Center.
He was born April 17, 1891, in New Hamburg, the son of Conrad and Mary Reiminger Blattel. On April 1, 1913, he married Mary Elizabeth Collie, who died May 14, 1950.
He was a retired railroad employee, who had worked for the Cotton Belt, Missouri Pacific and Frisco railroads. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Parish here, and the church's Men's Club.
Survivors include four sons, Fred W., James, Robert and Elmer Blattel; two daughters, Mrs. Helen Broshuis and Mrs. Dorris Holshouser; 20 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
One son, seven brothers and five sisters preceded him in death.
