A funeral for Kaye Bethene Carter of Sheridan was held Wednesday in the Sheridan Church of the Nazarene. Interment was in the Dayton Independent Order of Odd Fellows Cemetery.

Miss Carter died of ovarian cancer Jan. 20, 2001, in her daughter's home in Sheridan. She was 61.

She was born July 17, 1939, in Portland.

She had lived in the Sheridan area for 22 years. She completed a two-year course in office occupations and then worked as an administrative clerk for Grand Sheramina Community Services in Sheridan.

She loved raising animals, flower gardening, sewing and cooking. She also loved horses. She had belonged to the Newberg Church of Christ and the McMinnville Church of Christ. She attended the Sheridan Church of the Nazarene.

Survivors include two daughters, Amanda Kaye Carter of Sheridan and Michele Marie Noren of Sandy, Utah; two sons, Rob Scott DeWhitt of Longview, Wash., and Chris Carter of Chicago; a brother, Merril Lee Carter of Baker; and 13 grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Health Dynamics Hospice, 419 N.E. Sixth St., McMinnville, OR 97128; the American Cancer Society or the Oregon Heart Association.

Arrangements were under the direction of Autumn Funerals and Cremations, Tigard.
