Russell Martz, 46, former Grand Rapids resident, died Tuesday morning at Chicago, where he had lived since 1941. A fireman for the New York Central system, Mr. Martz had lived in Grand Rapids from 1921 to 1941. He was a native of Indiana.

Surviving are his wife, Marie; a stepson, Howard, and one grandchild, all of Chicago; a sister, Mrs. Clayton Bachert of Comstock Park, and two brothers, Charles of Sparta and Floyd of Grand Rapids.

Funeral services will be held Friday at Chicago.

The above, from the Grand Rapids Press, was sent to the Reporter by Dallas Baer of Grand Rapids, Mich., an uncle of the deceased. Mr. Martz was the son of James and Marietta (Baer) Martz. During his childhood the family lived in a house that stood near the Lloyd Neher home. Eli Baer was a grandfather of the deceased.
