Porter William Sublette, Sr., son of Berry Ferdinand and Frances Williams Sublette, was born July 17, 1875, in Warren County, MO. Porter passed away suddenly on Wednesday morning, November 19, 1947, at the age of 72 years, 4 months and 2 days. He was the third son of a family of eight children. Four sons and four daughters. Joseph Lee Sublette, Mary Clementine Duckworth, Sarah Jane Carver, Garry Bolton Sublette, Anna Bell Easter, Berry Ferdinand Sublette and Deliah E. Ihle. Porter was united in marriage to Emma Elizabeth Deardorff, of Bachelor, MO, on December 24, 1902. To this union eleven children were born: Eula Mae Conley, Hurley Allen, Rayburn Russell, Garnet Frances, Goldie Elizabeth Cunningham, Woodrow Wilson, Helen Pauline Schraer, Margaret Ruth Zumwalt, Emma Lee Boeke, Porter William Jr., and John Berry. He spent most of his life in and near High Hill, MO, until the last fifteen years where he had lived on a farm near Jonesburg. He was a successful farmer. He was always willing to help those in need. His advice was often sought after. He joined the Christian Church in 1919, and was baptized by Bowling Green Reavis, evangelist, holding a meeting in High Hill. He was a devoted husband and father and will be sadly missed by his relatives and friends. Funeral services were held on Friday at 2 p.m. at the Methodist Church, High Hill, MO. Rev. Harold Nebel, Interment followed in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery, near High Hill, MO.
