Mrs. Matilda Stotts Reasoner was born April 13, 1821, in Muskingum county, Ohio. She died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mary E. Shepley, Iola, Kansas, Feb. 19, 1911, aged 89 years, ten months and six days. Miss Stott grew to womanhood in the place of her nativity. In 1838, she moved with her sister to Delaware County, Indiana. Miss Stott was married to Mr. Noah Reasoner, of Wheeling, Indiana, on July 11, 1839. Mr. and Mrs. Reasoner made their home in Wheeling for only a few months. They then moved to Marion County, Indiana, where they lived for about 15 years. In 1855 they moved to Morrisburg, Guthrie County, Iowa, and then moved to St. Clair County, Missouri in 1866. Here Mrs. Reasoner made her home for 37 years. Mr. Reasoner died February 28, 1894. In 1903 Mrs. Reasoner came to Iola to make her home with her daughter. She was preceded in death by her husband, one son and two daughters. Left to mourn her departure are her sons, Calvin Reason of Appleton City, Mo.; Joseph Reasoner of Law Gap. Wash.; and her daughters, Mrs. Lacy E. Davidson of Stewart, Ia.; Mrs. Hattie Anderson of Green River, Utah; Mrs. Sarah Lawton, Roeark, Kans.; Mrs. Mary E. Shepley, Iola, Kans.; and Mrs. Della Johnson, Appleton City, Mo. Also 42 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren, with a large number of other relative and friends. After a short funeral service at the home, the remains were taken to Appleton City, Mo. to rest in the Westfield cemetery near there. (Iola Register, 2-21-1911)
