Miss Jacoba Wilhelmena Pike ( was born October 24, 1839 in Osterbeek, Holland, and passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Aalbers on South Second street in Eddyville, Tuesday morning, August 23, 1927, after an illness of six weeks, at the age of 88 years, 9 months and 30 days.

In 1862 she was married to Gerrit Aalbers in Osterbeek, Holland, and to this union were born ten children, three of whom died in Holland.

In 1903 the family came to America and settled at Pella, Iowa. A daughter Gertrude passed away after they came over here. Several of the children came to this country before their parents.

The family came to Eddyville sixteen years ago and lived on a farm east of town. Mr. Aalbers passed away two years later.

Mrs. Aalbers was a most devoted member of the First Reformed church and lived a true Christian life, a living example of her faith. She was a lover of her home and family, always striving for their good. Before her death, Mrs. Aalbers expressed the thought she was willing and ready to go.

She is survived by three sons: Wm. Aalbers of Eddyville, Gradus Aalbers of South Dakota, and Marinus Aalbers of Otley; three daughters: Mrs. John Cornelisson of Eddyville, Mrs. James Knoot of Givin and Mrs C. VanGemert of Chicago, all of whom were home. There are also thirty-five grandchildren and forty great-grandchildren.

Short services were held from the Cornelissen home Thursday at 1 o'clock and the funeral was held from the First Reformed church at 2:00. The pastor, Rev. Douwstra of Pella, officiated, assisted by Rev. J.W. Gruber, pastor of the M.E. church. Interment was made in the family lot at Highland Cemetery at Eddyville
