He took part in the successful siege of Bexar, which was an early campaign of the Texas Revolution in which a volunteer Texian army defeated Mexican forces at San Antonio de Béxar (now San Antonio, Texas).

Shortly thereafter he served in the Alamo garrison as a Private and marksman. He was killed in the battle of the Alamo.
