Sir William Tyrone Guthrie (2 July 1900 – 15 May 1971), better known as Tyrone Guthrie, was an English theatrical director instrumental in the founding of the Stratford Festival of Canada, the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis, Minnesota and the Tyrone Guthrie Centre, at his family's home, Annaghmakerrig, in County Monaghan, Ireland.
His 1931 marriage to Judith Bretherton was registered in the Cootehill District in County Cavan, Ireland.∼British director: Cousin of American actor, Tyrone Power. Husband of Judith Bretherton. He was awarded Knight Bachelor of the Order of the British Empire in 1961 for his services to drama. He was the founder, namesake and first artistic director of the Guthrie Theatre in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
