TWA Flight 529
On September 1, 1961 at 2:05 AM local time, a Trans World Airlines tourist-class airliner crashed and burned in a muddy cornfield near suburban Hinsdale, Illinois killing all 73 passengers and 5 crew members on board. The big four-engine Constellation exploded and caught fire as it plowed into the rain-soaked ground 10 miles west of Chicago's Midway Airport.
