Tyra's father was Richard Crafton, Jr. (1797-1852). When his father died in Virginia (gravesite unknown), his mother Leona W. "Leanner Ann" Cooksey Crafton left Lunenburg County about 1860 with 2 of her sons, Tyra Wesley and Madison Jerome. She migrated to Henderson County, Kentucky. Two other sons - Luke and Ruby - came to Henderson after the Civil War was over and they were released from the Confederate Army.
