"TED NIX III
Ted, age 73, was born on October 29, 1937, and passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2011. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, as well as a wonderful brother, uncle and friend. Ted attended Fowler High School and in 1955 married his high school sweetheart Mary Holland. He graduated from Fresno State College with a degree in business. Early in his career he served as Assistant Auditor Controller of Fresno County. In 1979 he took the job of Chief Financial Officer of Maricopa County in Arizona. Seven years later, he moved back to California to accept the job of Director of Finance for the city of Montebello, where he also served as president of the Montebello Rotary Club. Upon retirement in 2000 he and Mary moved back to Fresno to be close to their family. Ted was an avid golfer and reader, but he also enjoyed traveling, gardening, bicycling, and running. Most of all he enjoyed family gatherings and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the San Joaquin Country Club and a member of College Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Ted and Pauline Nix; brother, Barry Nix; and two daughters, Robin and Kris Nix. Ted will be greatly missed by Mary, his loving wife of 55 years; his son, Ted and his wife Vicki of Fresno; daughter, Cindy Chapman and her husband Scott of Fresno; five grandchildren, Nicole Jizmejian and her husband Dennis of Fresno, Carly Grima and her husband John of Elk Grove, Erin Nix, Haley and Charlie Chapman; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Shelley Cooper of Fowler. A Graveside Service will be held at Fowler District Cemetery on Monday, January 24, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. WALLIN'S Fowler Funeral Home 302 E. Merced Street Fowler (559)834-2531."
