DONALD F. HOBBS, 66, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005. He was born Feb. 10, 1939, in Sutter Creek, Calif. to John Elmer and Ethel Wilkinson Hobbs. After finishing high school in Stockton, Don traveled to California to live with his aunt and uncle, Orville and Louise Hobbs, where he met his wife, Barbara Riddle. They were married Nov. 18, 1960. To this marriage were born three children, Debbie Lynn, Cindy Lynn, and John Edward. Don and Barbara enjoyed 44 special years of marriage together. Don attended church all his life. As a young child, he attended a little country church, and was a member of Stockton Lake Community Church. He loved the Lord and his pastor Larry Greenfield and all his church family. Each one was such a blessing to him. Don worked for Wonder Bread while in California as a route driver. After coming back to Missouri, he went to work for Hiland Dairy. He retired after 28 years as a truck driver for teamsters. After retirement, Don joined the Stockton R-1 School District as a full time bus driver and loved all (his) kids. He was preceded in death by his father, John Elmer, a daughter, Cindy Lynn; his grandma, Ruth Engleman (whom Don was raised by); a nephew, Larry Dodd; two uncles, Orville Hobbs and Jakey Hobbs; a cousin, Christina Hobbs; a great nephew, Kevin Shank; and a sister, Gayle Hobbs. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Hobbs; a daughter,Debbie Haines and husband Mike; a son, John Hobbs and wife, Sheila; two grandchildren (whom he loved with all his heart), Ashley and Kayla Hobbs; a sister, Donna Broyles and husband Dwain; his mother, Ethel Patterson; two brothers-in-law, Will Riddle and wife Lee and David Riddle; two nieces, Lynn shank and Sheila Partch; a nephew, Tracy Riddle; Cindy Giltner Spitler (whom he loved as a daughter); and many more special friends and relatives that he welcomed into his home and with whom he shared his love and support, including Danny Lechner, Cory Vega, Peter Anderson, and Wendy Twitty. A memorial fund in his name has been set up at Liberty Bank. A musical celebration of his life was held Saturday, Feb. 26, 2005, at Stockton Lake Community church. Pastor Larry Greenfield officiated. Special music was provided by Judy Ford, Rod and Polly Shipley; Kay, Jeff, and David Wheeler; Sandra Holdeman; Julie Morrow; Rand and Connie Matheny and Larry Richardson.
