Willard J.Tilburg was struck and killed by a freight train while crossing the tracks at Watsontown at 5:45pm Thursday on the Conrail tracks between Fourth and Railroad st.He was struck in the westerly direction,He was pronounced dead at 6pm by the Union county coroner Wayne Bardo.Police said the train traveled about a block before it was stopped by the crew.Several witness's to the accident reportedly shouted warnings of the approaching train to the man and he had almost cleared the tracks when he was struck by a protrusion on the side of the engine.Mr Tilburg a son of the late Ray and Lottie (smith)Tilburg.was born july 11,1912 at Elimsport.He resided for the major portion of his life at White Deer.Surviving are two sisters,Mrs Kathryn Koch,White Deer,and Mrs Ruth Cummings,Tioga RD1.Funeral Services be held at l:30pm,Monday at the Dale E.Ranck Funeral Service,Milton,The reverend Carl E. Mills,pastor of faith Chapel Church,White Deer,Interment will take place in the Highland Cemetery,New Columbia
