Civil War Union Army Officer.

Son of David Paul Brown.

He was commissioned as a 1st Lieutenant in the 3rd United States Regular Cavalry on May 14, 1861. Transferred to the 6th United States Regular Cavalry on August 3, 1861, he served in the Battles of Williamsburg, Slatersville and Hanover Court House. He resigned his commission on January 25. 1864.

He later worked for the Western Union Telegraph Company.
