Bertha Mae Capps

Bertha Mae Capps, 93, of Empire, departed this life on earth on Tuesday, April 3, 2012. She will always be missed and forever loved by those she leaves behind, but will one day rejoin them with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

She was a charter member of the Owens Chapel Church of God and a longtime partner of Brookside Church of God. She was loved by all who knew her and always had kind words to all. But most of all she departed this life praising the name of Jesus and praying for all who knew her and all who did not know Jesus as their personal savior. Her prayer was that all would come to repentance and be saved.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2012, at 2 p.m. in the New Horizon Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in New Horizon Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Brad Lindsey and the Rev. T J. Millican will officiate. Visitation will be Saturday at 11:30 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Michael Byrd Cole and Jessie Mullins Cole; husband of 63 years, Garland Jesse Capps; son, Lecil Garland Capps; brother, Albert Cole; sisters, Ola Sanders Johnson and Alta Johnsey; grandsons, Michael Martin Crumpion, Bradley Raymond Capps; granddaughter, April Olah; son-in-law, Robert Vaughn: and daughter-in-law, Ruth Capps.

She leaves behind her children, Robert Capps (Dean) of Empire, Jesse Harlan Capps (Anna) of Cullman, Ardith Frailey (Bill) of Morris, Clara Vaughn of Morris, Clarence "Bugs" Capps (Jan) of Clanton, Jan Helms (Jim) of Empire, Sina Beard (Lonnie) of Empire and Paul Capps (Phyllis) of Jasper; 32 grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews with very fond memories and much love and a host of many friends.
