BETTY JO ALKIRE, age 82, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother passed away Thursday, January 6, 2011 with her family at her side. Betty was born in Abilene, Texas and wsa a long-time resident of Riverside. Betty spent her 27 year career in the Retail Clerks Union, working as a grocery clerk where she became a "favorite" to many of her customers, she retired from Stater Bros. in 1988. Betty truly loved the great outdoors nature hikes, bird watching and gardening. Her other pastimes included traveling, board games, arts & crafts, cooking and reading. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family and friends. She was always thoughtful of others and placed their needs before her own. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Robert, precious daughter Kathryn and son Michael (Glenna). She is survived by her loving sons Robert and his wife Marie, Ronald and his wife Sharon. Grandchildren, Leon, Ryan, Jennifer, Tammie and Angela and great grandchildren, Rylie, Nicolle, Summar, Amy and Joseph. A Celebration of Betty's Life will be held Friday, January 21, 2011 at 11:30 A.M. in the Rancho Cabellero (Clubhouse), 15181 Van Buren Blvd, Riverside, CA 92504.
