QUITAQUE — Jackie E. Starkey, 85, of Flomot died Wednesday, April 4, 2012.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Flomot. Burial will be in Flomot Cemetery. Arrangements are by Moore-Rose Funeral Home of Quitaque.

Jackie was born April 15, 1926, to Charlie and Bessie Malone Starkey. He served during World War II in Fort Greely, Alaska, as a Tec 5. He married the love of his life of 62 years, Nada Moon Starkey, on June 24, 1950, in Flomot. He was a lifelong farmer and rancher in Flomot. Jackie was instrumental in establishing the Flomot
Volunteer Fire Department.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Bessie Starkey; two sisters, Viola Starkey and Marjorie Cypert; a brother, Zelmah Dean Starkey; a son, Marvin Starkey; two grandsons, Warren Davis and Jackie Lee Starkey; and a grand-
daughter, Tammie Starkey.

Survivors include his wife, Nada Starkey; his children, Bessie and husband Clifton Reid of Amarillo, Jackie Lynn Davis of Fritch, Michael and wife Lori Starkey of Canyon, and Tawanna and husband J. Kennedy of Higgins; his sisters, Nola Long, Lola Jewell
Starkey, Bobbie Hanna, Ersie Van Cleve, Sandra George, and Phyllis Gladson; his brothers, Johnie Starkey and L.T. Starkey; his grand-
children, T.C. Reid, Christina Browder, Michael Davis, Tanya George, Destiny
McIntyre, Cindy Stallings, John Kempf, C.R., Courtney and Mandy Saunders, and Melody Farley; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
