Fort Bend Herald, November 14, 2006:

Funeral services for Steven Martin Janczak, age 86, of Rosenberg, Texas, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 14, 2006, at St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, 9122 Church Street in Needville with the Rev. Jim Aubey officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Rosenberg. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday, November 13th at St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, 9122 Church Street, Needville.

Steven Martin Janczak, the son of Alex Martin Janczak and Mary Borowicz Janczak, was born on June 22, 1920, in Bellville, Texas. He passed away Saturday, November 11, 2006 in Richmond, Texas. He worked 12 years for Providence Oil Company and then was employed for over 20 years at WKM. He was a part time farmer and rancher. For the past 11 years he worked assisting families and serving as the caretaker for the Garmany & Carden Funeral Chapel in Needville. He was a member of St. Paul's Presbyterian Church where he was honored for service as an elder and held the position of Head Usher until his death. Steven was devoted to the church and was always willing to lend a helping hand.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Gladys Hurta Janczak, of Rosenberg; daughter, Laura Jean Rodgers and husband, Marty, of Rosenberg; sons: Richard Janczak and wife, Peggy, of Needville; Rodney Janczak and wife Kaye, of Pleak; grandchildren: Eric Kolar and wife, Michelle; Crystal Bearden and husband Brent; Jennifer Rodgers and fiancé, Franklin Pospisil; Bridget Lagas and fiancé, Michael Ray Holt; Barton Janczak and Bethany Janczak; great grandchildren: Kaitlyn and Cody Kolar; Bradley Bearden; Joshua and Joseph Lagas and Jonathan Holt. Steven is also survived by one sister, Bessie Janacek and husband, Vic, of Rosenberg; sisters-in-law: Lillie Janczak, Gladys Janczak, Angela Janczak, Dorothy Hurta, Mary Ann Hurta; brother-in-law, Les Hurta and wife, Gloria; and numerous other family members. He is preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Mary Janczak; three brothers, Anton, Ted, and Lawrence Janczak; three sisters: Hester Vysocky, Regina Dobsky, Verna Kubeczka; and his mother and father-in-law, Joe and Lillie Hurta; sisters-in-law, Bernice Krobot and Helen Houser, brothers-in-law, Edwin Hurta and Ervin Hurta, and his goddaughter, Gail Hurta. Serving as pallbearers for the funeral will be Johnnie Hurta, Delbert Gajevsky, Ronald Urbanek, Adolph Chabisek, his grandson,Barton Janczak, and his godson, Dean Hurta. Special thanks to Assured Care, Mary Jane Treveno, and Drs. Popatia, Mefford, and Kumara.
