Simpsons' Daily Leader, Kittanning Pa, December 8, 1919, page 1:

In the early hours of the day of the week which it was her custom and delight, while in health and strength, to spend largely in active duty to all the services of her church, Mrs Alice Catherine Bowling, wife of Rev. R. C. Bowling, D.D., passed peacefully away at her residence on North McKean Street, this place.

The end came Sunday morning, December 7, 1919, at six o'clock, three days after the birthday anniversary of this good woman, and followed a period of failing health extending over an interval of twelve years. She had been in an unconscious condition since the preceding Tuesday.

Mrs. Bowling was a daughter of the late ex-County Commissioner George A. Heeter, of Clarion County. She was born at Monroe, Clarion County, December 4, 1863. On June 8, 1851, she was united in marriage with Rev. Robert C. Bowling, who became pastor of the Reformed Church at Emlenton in 1879. Four years later Rev. Mr. Bowling accepted a call extended by St. Luke's Reformed Church of Kittanning and they came to live here and have continued to do so ever since.

Besides her husband and one son, Fred, the deceased is survived by two brothers, William S. Heeter, of Monroe, and John M. Heeter, of Knox and two sisters, Mrs. Emma J. Mull of Monroe and Mrs. G. W. King of Emlenton. On sister, Mrs. R. A. McCullough of Kittanning, died many years ago.

The funeral will take place Wednesday afternoon. The services will be conducted by Rev. D. A. Bouders, D.D., of Irwin, Pa., assisted by Rev. R. E. Crum, of DuBois, and Rev. J. H. Mickley, D.D., of Johnstown. Interment will be in the Kittanning Cemetery
