OBITUARY - "The Birmingham News", edition of Sept. 22, 1936:
JAMES ALVERSON THOMAS, age 18, passed away at a local infirmary Tuesday a.m.. Survived by his parents, MR. and MRS. JAMES A THOMAS, 6804 Division Avenue; 2 brothers, RUBLE THOMAS and MIDDLETON THOMAS; one sister, MRS. E M FRANKS, Birmingham. Funeral services are Wednesday 4 p.m. from the Sixty-Sixth Street Baptist Church. Rev. Fred Sparks officiating. Interment Forest Hill Cemetery, Vice directing.
(Note: ALVERSON died from typhoid fever)
