Automobile Magnate. Known mainly for designing the iconic and groundbreaking Porshe 911. The same can be said in his remarkable and personal favorite, the racer type 904 GTS Carrera, an important benchmark in auto racing in the 1960s. Known as being a "Functionalist" in design, he applied fundamental principles in his work, believing to reduce everything to its primary function. His belief was to choose quality of finish, combining tradition in craftsmanship with high technology. In 1972, he founded a design business, Porsche Design Studio, where he created industrial products, home appliances and consumer goods, maintaining the vision of craftsmanship and simplicity meets function. He served as chairman of Porsche from 1990 to 1993 and was Honorary President of the Supervisory Board of Porsche AG upon his death.
