Courtney Anne Caldwell, 48, died Wednesday, April 11, 2007, in Franklinton, La. A memorial service is being planned for Roselawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her memory to the Courtney Caldwell Memorial Scholarship Fund, University of Mississippi Foundation, P.O. Box 249, University, MS 38677. Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home in Tallahassee is handling arrangements.

A native of Lees Summit, Mo., she moved to Tallahassee in 1959. She had spent the past 30 years in Mississippi and the New Orleans, Madisonville and Franklinton areas of Louisiana. She was a 1976 graduate of Leon High School, where she was a cheerleader and a member of Civinettes. She received a bachelor's degree in public administration in 1979 and a master's degree in education with emphasis on law enforcement in 1981 from the University of Mississippi, where she was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority. She also had a paralegal degree. She had worked in the court systems of both the states of Mississippi and Louisiana.

She is survived by her
father, Stan Caldwell (now deceased);
brother and sister-in-law;
sister and brother-in-law;
two nieces;
nephew; and
first cousin.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Juanita Thorne Caldwell, in 2005; her maternal grandparents, James Carey and Mary Etta Thorne; and her paternal grandmother, Irene Allen Durr.
