Roger Rodman Whynott, 83, of Lakeshore Drive in Middleton, died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007, at Mountain View Nursing Home in Ossipee.

Born Jan. 16, 1924, in Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia, Canada, son of the late Ellison E. and Nellie Whynott, he resided in Middleton for some years, was formerly of Grove Street in Farmington for seven years and previously resided in Everett, Mass.

Roger was a former middleweight boxing champion of Canada, from 1948-1950.

A tree surgeon by trade, he retired from the City of Medford, Mass.

He was a life member of the Elks Lodge. Roger especially enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren and his great-grandson.

Survivors include his three sons, Gary Whynott of Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia, Gregory D. Whynott of Epping, and Gerard J. Whynott of Middleton; three grandchildren, Tamara Whynott, Gerard J. Whynott, Jr., and Erin Marie Whynott; a great-grandson, Keegan Nicholas Whynott, also many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by wives, Mary (Lepore) Whynott and Deloris (Palisi) Whynott; and 12 siblings.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 22, at 10 a.m. at Peaslee Funeral Home, 24 Central St., Farmington. There are no calling hours, family and friends are welcome to the service.
