Judge David Taylor died suddenly at Madison, April 3, with heart disease. He was at his consultation room in the afternoon, at work writing until 6 o’clock, he then went home and sat down to his supper. He very soon arose from the table and told his daughter to go for a doctor, stating that he was feeling very badly. Before she returned with a doctor he had passed away.
He was well known to the people of Calumet County having been for several years judge of the circuit court of this county. At the time of his death and a number of years before, he was one of the judges of the supreme court.
He came to this state in the spring of 1946 and settled in Sheboygan. Gen. Hobart came to Sheboygan at the same time and on the same boat. They established the first two legal firms in that city, to-wit; Taylor & Wheeler, and Hobart, Woodbury & Gorsline. Gorsline will be remembered by the people of this county, also, as one a judge of the circuit court. These men have all now passed away except Gen. Hobart. Taylor was a very strong republican and one represented Sheboygan County in the state senate.
He was an industrious, hardworking, plodding lawyer. He was not a brilliant man, but he was well educated and a thorough student. Judge Taylor was the son of Irish parentage and was 73 years of age at the time of his death. He leave a wife and several children.
